I am certain

I am certain I have my doubts, it is hard to say, exactly what they are, or what I mean, it will have to be put on the shoulders of young poets to weigh up. They will have to continue the march, if they can find uninterruptible time, curiosity…ongoing and unrelenting energy, I?ve don?t have it anymore of that asset. Yes, yes I like Confucius, I like all the great thinkers, poets, in fact I will say it again, I have come from there to here, avoiding nothing, and learning very little on the way, trying to find the end from the beginning, too late did I start, and it will be too late when I finish.

?So I hear you say… ?You?ve always been too late…? ?Oh, yes, –yes indeed, you are right, yes, yes, life, I am simple in it, not shackled to it, to anymore, anyhow.

?The dumb ones, I mean real dumb ones, think they know a lot of something, yet, nothing comes out of their mouths, nothing but uncertainty so it tells me they know very little, it even could be less than me.

?It is this suspense I think that leads them to thinking they got it, or had it, but they got what they were looking for, nothing, yes oh yes, nothing but processing over and over knowledge that came to late for them to use now.

Continue throughout your round to stay

Continue throughout your round to stay hydrated especially during the summer months.

? Combine carbohydrates, proteins and fats at each meal. This aides in overall digestion and ensures you are getting the proper nutrients.

? Bring a snack or bag lunch. Beverage carts are not known for healthy choices, so don?t put yourself in a position to feel forced to rely on them.

? Avoid high processed foods or sugar based foods. They tend to raise blood sugar levels quickly and, then, drop rapidly causing fatigue.

? Stick with the basics. Don?t try new foods just before you play. Stick with what you know your body responds well to.

? Keep it simple. There is no need to make elaborate meals or go to great extent in preparation. A piece of fruit and bag of nuts will go a long way in replenishing energy when you need it.

As a golfer, especially if you are of a championship caliber, it is essential to have a wide variety of complex carbohydrates to maintain your energy through an 18-hole match or a 72-hole tournament.

Mentally your brain needs to stay conditioned to tell your body what to do, not to mention calculating distances, swing strength and maintaining focus.

THE BEST TIME AT YOUR TABLE

SCALLOPS ON MASHED PEAS, WITH ARTICHOKE CRISPS Serves 4 To get your cooking up to Michelin star level, it is all about the small detail: the precise chopping of vegetables, the fine textures and exquisite presentation. So why not rise to the challenge for a starter your guests will never forget? Scallops are an ideal candidate, as they require quick cooking and allow time for a little more technical flourish. With a julienne slice here and a smooth paste of pea there, you can bring out the gourmet in your cooking.

INGREDIENTS: 8 scallops 1 lime, juice and peel salt pepper extra- virgin olive oil four artichokes 300g peas 50g onion 70g extra- virgin olive oil salt 20g curly lettuce 20g arugula 20g pea shoots METHOD For the scallops: [mu] Open and clean the scallops. Cut in half-inch thick slices and marinate with the olive oil, lime peel, lime juice, salt and pepper.

For the mashed peas: [mu] Pour the extra-virgin olive oil into a pan, add the onion, sliced into julienne (matchstick) strips, let it cook over a medium heat until it wilts. Add the peas and cook over a high heat. If necessary, add water. At the end add salt to taste. Blend to form a creamy, smooth paste.

Artichokes [mu] Clean the artichokes, removing all the leaves and leaving only the heart

Review: ‘faustUS’ is a brutal, thoughtful piece

0 Comments | Tribune – Review / Pittsburgh Tribune – Review, Jul 23, 2010 | by Alice T Carter

What “faustUS” lacks in length, it more than makes up for with intensity.

A production of the Pittsburgh-based 404 Strand Company, “faustUS” distills Christopher Marlowe’s 1604 drama “The Tragical History of the Life and Death of Dr. Faustus” to its essentials.

When the red curtains are drawn back, we find Faust alone inside a wooden cage-like rectangle. Twenty-four years ago, he pledged his soul to the devil in exchange for more than two decades of knowledge and power.

Now, in the final hour of his life, he appears not much wiser or better for that transaction.

“The god thou servest is thine own appetite,” says actor Rick Kemp’s devil early on.

Needless to say, Faust is beginning to regret the deal and is going through stages of denial and bargaining.

Developed by the seven company members of 404 Strand, “faustUS” is a contemporary adaptation or deconstruction performed by five actors in the 60 minutes of Faust’s final hour.

The audience surrounds the small playing space on all sides of the brightly lit cage that’s placed in the center of the otherwise darkened black box of Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s education center.

You’re literally inches from the performers as each of the three men and two women take turns assuming the roles of Faust and devils.

For some, it will be hard to watch.

Faust is a man in torment, and his pain is raw

Am I too old for … A HOODIE

Am I too old for A HOODIE

0 Comments | Daily Mail (London, England), The, Jan 25, 2010

Byline: SAMANTHA MURRAY GREENWAY

LIKE Ugg boots, hoodies offer bags of high-comfort allure. I’ve worn — and loved — their sporty shape in various styles over the years, from purple printed jersey (long ago) to discreet marl grey cashmere (more recently).

But now they’ve become a Directional Catwalk Item, I might have to re-think.

You see, I’ve always worn mine off-duty, not as an Important Fashion Piece. With Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga mooting Hoodies ‘n’ Heels as a spring style solution, it puts a whole new spin on things. In Fashion Land, it’s a genius mix: the heels sex up the hoodie’s dodgy street image, and the hoodie gives everything else some edge. I can imagine a stylish young lovely slipping a high-tech hoodie (Balenciaga’s moulded leather, perhaps) over a precious frock, then finishing off with towering heels and successfully throwing fashion on its head.

But me? It’s precisely that sort of edgy statement that would make your average 38-year-old look mildly deranged. Not to mention that comfortable clothes are not necessarily flattering clothes

Simple home improvements

Simple home improvements

0 Comments | Capital, Feb 18, 2006

Ready to trade your mittens for rubber gloves? As spring arrives, along with it comes the spring cleaning season. Not surprisingly, more than 75 percent of Americans set aside specific time to complete an annual cleaning, according to a recent survey. And, the bathroom is the first place homeowners look to make drastic changes.

Just think of it: heated floors, steam room, body spa and vanity lighting. Doing a major remodel to your bathroom requires time and expense. But often, some minor readjustments to the most-often-used room of your home can immediately, and affordably, improve the way you feel about it.

Consider these easy tips and improvements:

Save the counter. Does your bathroom countertop turn into a space for clutter? Try mounting some easy-to-install shelves where you can store your toothbrush, make-up, and other personal items that tend to take up precious counter space.

Curtain call. A new, colorful shower curtain can bring new life to your bathroom. But since shower curtains easily accumulate mold, make sure to clean it regularly with a product proven to kill the mold spores, like Tilex Mold & Mildew Remover.

Unclog. Let’s face it – we all dread the inevitable backups that occur in sinks, bathtubs and showers as a result of hair, soap and other unidentifiable clog culprits
